ROCK SHOTS PHOTOGRAPHY
The eye behind the camera senses those special moments that capture the essence of the day and the sparkle in people's eyes. I pride myself on delivering great photos to my clients and making sure they enjoy the full experience. And of course, a little fun is always in order!
Who I Am
I was born and raised a California girl. My dad, a west coast surfer, and mom, a New York rocker. Raised with the west coast cool attitude and a New York spirit, I believe it's a direct reflection of how I operate and engage with the world. As a kid, my parents made it a point that I develop an appreciation for the arts. They were constantly introducing me to classic films, blasting all genres of music, had me participate in theater productions and we frequented museums of all types. As a teenager, my dad took up photography in high school, taking photos for the school's newspaper and eventually for pleasure. I always remember his beautiful 35mm cameras around the house. As for me, I picked up a camera and started taking pictures of everything as soon as elementary school, loved it and couldn't put the camera down. All through my high school years my friends would pose for my photo shoots and I would shoot videos of our friend's bands, our crazy adventures, and our choreographed dance numbers. During that time, while taking photos at Pasadena's annual Do-Da Parade in 2000, I realized I loved watching and studying people; quietly capturing brilliant fleeting moments as people in costumes and outrageous floats flashed by. College came and I took photography classes at Orange Coast College from 2004 to 2007. Being on stage since a very young age I continued dancing and surrounding myself with music; whether it be masterfully recorded or live concerts. I took anthropology classes along side photography to satisfy my desire to study human culture and histories. My photography passion furthered as I got my degree in Anthropology from University of California, Berkeley in 2009.
I found that photography was the one thing that brought all my interests together. I could engage and learn about people and cultures around the world and document my colorful findings with my photos. I could capture the explosive energy of live performances. My people skills allow a family or couple in love to relax to give the camera their naturally beautiful smiles.
Preparing for and taking photos can easily be stressful. It's no good if we're not having fun. I have been praised by artists for being stealthy and personable when shooting, by families for making the experience quick and fun, and by individuals for making them feel special and relaxed. Comments like these let me know I'm rocking it! And I will continue to do so.
I can't wait to start a new project with you! Thank you and I look forward to working with you. Let's Rock!
